Newlands Cricket High School wins the 2015 Jive St. Augustine u/15 Tournament

Newlands Cricket High School (NCHS) performed brilliantly on their debut at the Jive St. Augustine Tournament. The 15-overs tournament, which is in its second year, took place from 3-5 October at the home of the Saints – the Basil D’Oliveira Sports Complex in Elfindale. NCHS was drawn in Pool B along with the home team Saints, Amajimbos and Strandfontein CC. Finishing unbeaten against Amajimbos and Saints on the first day of the tournament, NCHS was in good form. The second day of the tournament saw NCHS take on Strandfontein CC – a win against Strandfontein CC took NCHS through to the quarter-finals as winners of Pool B. Knock-outs: The quarter-finals on day three saw NCHS go up against Saints Hub and a comfortable win against Saints Hub took NCHS through to the semi-finals where they faced-off against fellow Pool B rivals, Amajimbos. Another win against Amajimbos saw NCHS go through to the Finals, unbeaten! Victorious: Facing-off against Bluebells Cricket Club in the final, NCHS remained unbeaten, giving them the prized silverware on their debut at the tournament. NCHS received more silverware in the form of batsman of the tournament, Justin Gilliland, and bowler of the tournament, Ali-Akbar Shaik.
